Web/SEO Content Writer

The Content Writer works closely with a team of other writers and a Community Manager. Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—are mandatory. Primary responsibilities include writing original content or corporate social media campaigns, including blogs and microblogs.

Each writer is responsible for managing multiple projects and frequent deadlines, interacting with clients on a daily basis, and providing frequent status updates regarding project progress and challenges.

The Content Writer should have a Bachelor’s in a relevant field, such as English or Marketing. The ideal candidate has a strong background in written communication (web, PR, or marketing preferred) and an extensive understanding of best practices for web communication, social media, and SEO.

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Shifts quickly and nimbly among a variety of tasks
  • Maintains focus and self-discipline in a relatively unstructured environment
  • Effectively and consistently articulates progress, goals and challenges to other team members
  • Easily adapts writing style to fit the needs and “voices” of different clients
  • Produces clean, clear copy that requires minimal editing or revision
  • Feels comfortable discussing and explaining best practices for social media


RESPONSIBILITIES

On a daily basis, the Content Writer does the following tasks and activities:

  • Compose original, thoughtful, and engaging content for various social media platforms such as blogs, Facebook, and Twitter
  • Adhere to best practices for each platform
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding overall social media strategy; content focus; content revisions and approvals; procedural updates; and other aspects of their social media campaigns
  • Maintain a client-centered focus at all times
  • Assist the Community Manager in creating and implementing a fan-building strategy for each client
  • Incorporate SEO techniques into content
  • Contribute to the creation of in-house marketing materials as needed
  • Write high volumes (2,000-3,000 words) each day, with minimal supervision
